A few words from Sue
I've been designing and creating one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces since 1991 under the business name Bittersweet Ridge. They say to do what you love and I think that joy shows in my work.
My zest for life has taken me from a career as a mental health administrator to textile artist to jewelry artist. My work is the culmination of my experiences. Sojourns to backcountry Russia, hand raising baby calves, driving and farming with draft horses and mules, restoring historic homes, and simply enjoying my new studio with its panoramic view of a series of spring ponds.
All this and more contribute to my sense of composition and color in my work.
I'm a collector of many things, especially unusual and/or vintage pendants, beads, and objects I can incorporate into my designs. I believe in the healing and life enhancing properties of gemstones and enjoy working with materials from the natural world. I strive to purchase high quality gems and findings, yet keep my work affordable
.
Bittersweet Ridge designs have been sold through wholesale accounts to shops and galleries throughout the world, as well as to private clients. Each piece is unique and handmade the old fashioned way... one by one.
